What if I don't know the amount to place on my proposal?

Per Elance's Terms of Service, placeholder proposals are not allowed.  Service providers must provide a realistic estimate of the job cost. This estimate can be updated by placing a new proposal based on additional information you receive from the employer via the Private or Public Messages.

If you are unsure about the amount to submit with your proposal, you can submit a Prebid and ask the employer to clarify the job requirements on the Private Messages before you enter a proposal amount.   If you want to ask the employer a question without using Connects, you may use the Public Messages.
