What is a default payment method?

Default payment method can be setup in order to automatically pay monthly Provider Membership Fees.  This is usually the payment method used during membership sign-up.  (E.g. Credit card, PayPal or Elance Account Balance). 

What happens if you there are any issues charging to the default payment method?

If there are any issues charging to the default payment method during the membership renewal, the provider's membership account will be automatically downgraded to "Basic".  If it is a credit card, make sure that it is not expired.  If it is the Elance account balance, make sure that you keep a sufficient balance to pay for the monthly cost. Also, any category enrolled in the Premier Provider Program will lose its premier status, therefore it is critical to ensure that your default payment method is valid. 

What if I don't see the method that I want in the dropdown?

If you would like to change your default payment method to a different account, but you do not see the new option in the 'Default Payment Method' dropdown, please ADD those accounts first in the 'Active Accounts' section first.  Then the appropriate account will appear in the dropdown. 

The default payment method can be changed at anytime by going to the 'Default Payment Account' section in the 'My Account' > 'Account Detail' page.
